Take more road trips! For real. I think our next big trip will be Yellowstone. Until then, I’m going to try and get out on shorter trips at least every month or so. There’s so much out there to see; especially outside of the midwest. Flying is great and convenient, but what about everything in between?
As for this trip specifically: the less planning the better. The trip out east had a bit of a tight schedule. I tend to be a bit of a meticulous planner. We actually left around 12:30am on Thursday. I wanted to make sure there were no low-gas scares, so I planned out all the necessary fill-ups at 24 hour truck stops. I even made this map to pull up on my phone to keep track along the way.

And everything went according to plan. But I found that I enjoyed the drive home more. We spread it out over two days and had only a very loose plan. It’s a different feeling: having nowhere to be, nothing to do. A real vacation.
If you’d like, you can check the BeastCoast tag for a summary of the trip!
Also: stay away from the dang Ohio Turnpike if you can help it…$16.60 toll! Ridiculous.
Anyway, MapBox is awesome for making custom maps. There are some really cool things being done. Also Koding is pretty interesting for code editing/hosting/sharing. I’m looking forward to checking out the new beta.
Back in Evanston. Tired. Very fun trip. I foresee more road trips more often. I have a couple more things to post…tomorrow probably.
This week: work for a few days…then off to Lansing for Matt and Tre’s wedding!
For now: rest. Goodnight.
